I was deeply touched by the work of the Institute for the Study & Practice of Nonviolence that brought rival gang members together for a day of surfing at Narragansett Town Beach. The Aug. 31 article “Boys from the hood take to the surf” showed that sometimes it is the simplest of visions (and the hard work of organizing volunteers and procuring donations) that are the most powerful. I hope the article brings more attention to the wonderful work that the institute is doing and helps to increase donations of time and equipment so that the surfing program can continue.TERESA TANZI
