Eat Local, Shop Local, Save Local Communities

By Teresa Tanzi

I attended the DEM/Marine Fisheries roundtable discussion on the fluke sector allocation pilot program this afternoon, and while there are no easy answers, one thing is clear:

We each need to support and promote our local fisherman as we have learned to support our local farmers, or be prepared to:

1) lose more jobs and homes in our community

2) lose the working port of Galilee (to another oceanfront condo development?)

3) lose a way of life that is intrinsic to South County.

Ask for locally caught fish wherever you shop, and do so for not only your health, but for the health of our community.
