Salty Brine State Beach: A New Gem for Galilee

By Teresa Tanzi

If you have recently been out to Galilee, you may have spotted something new from Escape Road, a stunning new white wind turbine.

This morning I was present for the ribbon-cutting at the Salty Brine State Beach pavilion - powered by both this 100 foot turbine, and the solar panels lining the roof. This LEED-certified project is a beautiful example of partnership between local, state and federal government, and local advocates for renewable energy, disability access, and our natural resources (ie, our beautiful beaches!).

I am thankful for the hard work of the Department of Environmental Management, the Coastal Resources Management Council, the National Park Service, the Governor's Commission on Disability, our congressional delegation and the Brine family.

I look forward to enjoying this lovely boardwalk, snack bar and beach this summer - and rinsing off with a hot shower powered by the sun!
