Three Upcoming Events

By Libby Kimzey
Starting with tomorrow's Campaign Kick-Off, there are three opportunities to show your support for a grassroots candidate, while supporting local businesses and spending time with your friends.
I'm especially excited for tomorrow's Kick-Off, to start at the grassy area next to the South Kingstown town dock on the salt ponds, and finish next door at Hanson's Pub. We'll be hearing from Teresa about why she decided to enter the race and which issues motivate her every day to fight for the Narragansett, Peace Dale and Wakefield communities. Additionally, three community members will be sharing stories that show why they are confident that Teresa will be their voice in the State House. The Silent Art Auction is our most ambitious event yet to be planned entirely by volunteers, neighbors and artists. Teresa and I are so grateful for the commitment of Myron, Helene and Mara to making this event a reality, and freeing up precious additional hours for Teresa to go to the doors of voters to introduce herself. The silent auction features art donated by campaign supporters both locally and from across Rhode Island, and will run concurrently with the famous Ladies Night on Main St event. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Tanzi campaign, largely through purchasing postage for postcards, cartridges for our busy inkjet printer to produce handmade invitations, envelopes and buttons, and snacks from local businesses to nourish our volunteers.
Finally, we'll be leaving our cozy corner of Wakefield for a few hours on July 14th to rally support with progressive activists from across the state. It was through the friendships and working relationships with citizen advocates for fair tax policy, affordable health care, electoral reform and preservation of our natural resources, that Teresa developed her knowledge of issues and motivation to run for elected office herself. We will celebrate the ongoing work across the state this election cycle to bring new voices to the State House, ones that will never stop working for a fair, accessible and accountable state government.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
