HOUSE DISTRICT 34: Narragansett, South Kingstown

In District 34, Rep. David A. Caprio is facing a primary challenge from Teresa Tanzi, a newcomer to politics, and Peter Stone, an independent.

Stone declined comment and said that he is not interested in being interviewed at this time. He said he would not talk to the “liberal media.” He suggested voters “go to talk radio and WPRO and the Helen Glover show to get some information.”

“I’m in a trap and a lot of candidates don’t see it the way I see it,” Stone said.

Tanzi, a mother and South Kingstown resident, has been attending local events and town meetings consistently for months in an effort to get acquainted with the issues facing the community. She’s also been going door to door to build support for her campaign.

She launched her campaign during a kick-off last night at Hanson’s Pub on Salt Pond Road in Wakefield.

Tanzi is a member of the South Kingstown Economic Development Committee, vice president of the Ocean State Action Executive Committee and a volunteer of many local organizations and groups. She is the wife of Eric Buchbaum, a podiatrist and partner in Shoreline Podiatry in Wakefield.
